First edition hard back binding in publisher's original pea green embossed cloth covers, gilt title lettering to the spine and to the front cover, top edge gilt. 4to. 11½'' x 8¼''. Contains (xi)-blank, 16 pp followed by 136 plates, some on heavy extra stock colour paper, with over one hundred caricaturists being represented including Max Beerbohm, George Cruikshank, Edmund Dulac, William Hogarth, Edward Lear, Eric Ravilious, L. Rodo, William Heath Robinson, Thomas Rowlandson, Spy, John Tenniel, Loren Stout, Henry Tonks, and Gluyas Williams. One plate slightly proud and in very near Fine condition, supplied in archive acetate film protection. Member of the P.B.F.A. DRAWING & CRAFTSMANSHIP.
