Book has wrinkling, chipping and tiny tears on the spine edges, lightly bumped cover corners with some wear, some wear on the back, previous owner's inscription written on the front fixed endpaper, a few dog-eared pages, some chipping on the page edges, some water spots on the front endpapers, discoloration and shelf wear otherwise good. The Golden Road to Reading Series. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. First Printing. Red cloth with yellow title block, yellow and blue cover illustrations of a boy and a dog in a boat. Tear along gutter at front board which extends 3/4 of the way along the edge of the spine. Tips of corners bumped, light rub head and heel of spine. School stamp to front pastedown, the occasional thumb smudge, but overall clean and bright. Illustrated throughout with wonderful full-color and black and white illustrations by Elizabeth Enright, Esther B. Bristol and Charles E.B. Bernard. A lovely book, despite its obvious flaw.
