Vintage black-and-white studio still photograph of Richard Widmark and Doris Day from the 1958 film. Based on Peter De Vries' 1958 novel, in turn based on his and Joseph Fields' Broadway play. The Pooles (Day, Widmark) have been trying to conceive for years, to no avail. They apply for adoption, and the sultry Ms. Novick (Scala) is assigned as their agent. Unfortunate events lead Ms. Novick to conclude the Pooles unfit for parenthood, but Mr. Poole is able to change her mind. However, the baby Ms. Novick finds for them, it would appear, is really Mr. Poole's child, and Mrs. Poole is disgusted to discover her husband's secret. Happy endings come for everyone in the end. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with light creasing overall.
