He took them all over a period of 13-days he spent with his wife a month-old kitten & puppy at a castle in Anjou. In 36 pages. Orig. published in French in 1962 in Switzerland, this is the First American Edition, First printing, from 1963. Large hardcover 4to has cream-colored cloth over boards stamped with black pawprints & lettering to front & spine. Condition is VG-, downgraded due to rubbing & tearing at head of spine, with some small scrapes & holes in same area on spine & front cover, descending about a third of the way down front gutter & spine. Else, completely clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages off-white with a hint of tanning. The unclipped DJ is only Good, with paper loss, including small & larger hole & chips to same area at upper spine; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free! This is a Scarce hardcover book with 36 pages including lots of adorable photos of this little dachshund and his friends. The pages are clean with no soiling. There is a dedication written on the first end paper and there is a six inch closed tear along the binding edge of the title page. The copyright page shows 1963 as the published date. This is definitely Not a former library book. The dust jacket shows some light edgewear, a couple of short (one inch) closed tears along the edges and light soiling (No Chips). I have placed the DJ in a fresh mylar jacket and this old book looks and feels great! We always ship in a sturdy cardboard box!.
