La Prima e la Secunda Scaligerana sono due raccolte di studi e di sentenze, posti in ordine alfabetico, che indossavano grandi scrittori dell'antichità. I toni di arroganza, di orgoglio e di veleni prevalgono in tutta la pubblicazione. La "Secunda" (denominata così ma non esplicitamente con questo titolo) fu stampata per prima a causa della sua più vicina trattazione temporale dei fatti storici. L'Autore, di gran lunga migliore del padre (Jules César Scaliger) come filologo, fu anche grande storico e cronologista. Viaggiò attraverso la Francia, la Germania, l'Italia, la Scozia e nel 1562 abbracciò la religione protestante. Fu chiamato per l'Accademia di Leiden nel 1593 come successore di Justus Lipsius e fu anche, come suo padre, in grave conflitto con molti suoi contemporanei. Testo in lingua greca e latina. Rara prima edizione definitiva della "Prima Scaligerana". Presente nella Biblioteca nazionale Braidense di Milano e nella Biblioteca dell'Osservatorio astronomico di Roma. Esemplare perfetto. Legatura coeva in tutta pelle chiara, pp. 12, 101, 3, in 16°.
