Livre
Hardcover. Etat : Fine. Large quarto. 118pp. Bibliography and text in German. Black cloth lettered in gray. Illustrated throughout with impressionistic photos and plans of modern architectural icons, (and a few seascapes and historical wax figures). A fine, as new copy, still in publisher's shrinkwrap. This catalog was published in conjunction with the beginning of an exhibition first held at Kunsthaus Bregenz, Sept. 27, 2001- Jan. 6, 2002. Hiroshi Sugimoto has two recurring obsessions: history and time. This series of large-scale black-and-white photographs dissolves the lines between time, memory, and history in icons of modernist architecture as disparate as the United Nations Headquarters by Wallace K. Harrison, Luis Barraagan's Satellite Towers, the Saint Benedict Chapel by Peter Zumthor and Minoru Yamazaki's World Trade Center.
