3 of 4 volumes, missing volume I. original thin card covers, a bit dusty and worn, volume IV has strong creasing to first few leaves. Laid in slip and compliments bookplates in each volume. Presented by the author to the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Tables of double star measurements, etc, with the 1o" Cooke built for this purpose in 1860. The instrument survives at Marlborough and has been restored. These are a nice piece of history, when astrometry was cutting edge research. xvi+123pp 41pp, xv+123pp. There is much duplication of text between volume II and IV, the latter is an update which includes all earlier material. A bit dusty and worn but the text is clean and these are rare in this original form, copies were only distibuted to a handful of institutions. 4to. N° de réf. du libraire L13992
