, 273 pages, text maps, cloth, ex-library with usual library markings otherwise very good. From the book: After a long life devoted to explorations and surveys of aboriginal remains, mostly in the United States but extended at one time to Siberia, Mr. Fowke took up his residence in Madison, Indiana. The last years of his life were spent in an intensive and first-hand study of the Ohio River. Always a free lance and not afraid to advance theories based on personal observations even when in opposition to generally accepted conclusions, he worked out a theory of the origin of the Ohio River in its middle course in which he became intensely interested. Shortly after finishing the manuscript of this monograph he became ill and died at Madison. His striking personality endeared him to many friends, one of whom has completed arrangements for the publication of this monograph. ; Ex-Library; 273 pages. N° de réf. du libraire 29241
