Synopsis : Hornel is one of the finest colourists Scotland has produced. This book redresses the balance between his early and later work and accords Hornel an important role both as a key member of the Glasgow Boys and in the development of painting in Scotland in the final decades of the nineteenth century.
A propos de l'auteur: Bill Smith was a director of Robert Fleming & Co., the London merchant bank, and also looked after its collection of Scottish paintings for 12 years. He has also written biographies of the Scottish painters, Sir D Y Cameron (1992) and Leslie Hunter (2012), and of the financier, Robert Fleming (2000).
