Slight rubbing to covers (leather over boards; chiefly to spine edges); slight internal browning to edges. 529 pages. Text in Danish. First Danish- language issue of "For Whom the Bell Tolls", printed even as the Nazi occupation of Denmark was well under way (and translated under the same conditions). Notable also for the 9-line epigraph, sourcing the title quotation from John Donne (naturally also in Danish). With original upper wrapper bound in at front. Not located in Hanneman (but see D38; listing the 1945 2-volume issue from the same publisher). Bound in 3/4 dark maroon morocco over brown marbled boards, gilt-stamped spine with partly raised bands, dark brown endpapers, all edges trimmed and stained dark brown. Very tight and well-preserved copy; testament to Danish fortitude against Fascist aggresion, whether in Svendborg or Salamanca. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall (tall). N° de réf. du libraire L065226
