Description du livre Watkins, 1924. Hardcover. État : Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Good although 3 of the rear maps are copies. Otherwise good throughout, front hinge a little loose with one page (xix) separated, some foxing to occasional page. Errata slip included. Embossed front hard cover very good. Nice inscription by previous owner on fep. xx, pgs 584, richly illustrated. Detailed history of the Rifle Brigade, formed in late 1915, it first saw action in the Western Desert against the Senussi, although its most intense and famous record was on the Western Front as part of the New Zealand Division. The Rifle Brigade saw much action including on the Somme, at Messines, Passchendaele, and during the German offensive of March 1918, followed by the eventual march to victory. The NZRB ended the war seizing the walled town of Le Quesnoy in what has become one of the most revered actions of the Division in the war. The Brigade lost over 3000 men including its much admired CO, Brig-General Fulton, killed in action in 28th March 1918. Known as the Dinks, the Rifle Brigade created a proud war record that is well documented in what is arguably the best official history of the 1st NZEF. Contains the full roll of Honour and list of those Officers and Men decorated for their service, two men - L/C S Frickleton and Serg. H Laurent receiving the Victoria Cross. Due to the general wear of this copy, it is priced accordingly. Rare text. N° de réf. du libraire 91666
