1st edition, 381pp., illustrated, bound in a red decorative binding of red cloth pictorially stamped in white and gilt depicting rings, binding signed by Edward Stratton Holloway (1859-1939) who designed many covers for J.P. Lippincott between 1894 and 1925, signed with his monogram "H" .top edge gilt with all others uncut, spine lightly sunned or faded, white rules to board edges lightly rubbed otherwise a very clean bright copy. "Rings for the finger from the earliest known times to the present, with full descriptions of the origin, early making, materials, the archaeology, history, for affection, for love , for engagement, for wedding, commemorative, mourning, etc." with 290 illustrations in color, doubletone and line.
