A propos de cet article

2 volumes, 384 plates (4 in color) , plans, tables, cloth, DJ. Very good. After New York and San Francisco, Hampton Roads was the third largest port of embarkation for men and supplies in WWII. Edited by Major William Reginald Wheeler, Port Historian. Illustrated with United States Army and Navy photographs and paintings by Allan D. Jones, Jr. , and technical sergeant Edward A. Chavez. From the foreword by Major General C. P. Gross: "Hampton Roads has more than lived up to the example set by its illustrious predecessor of the last war. In a little more than three years, nearly a million troops and over twelve million ship tons of vital war cargo passed over its piers, en route overseas. The tonnage handled exceeds by almost 50 percent the total shipped overseas through all Army ports during World War I. More recently it has played a large and warmly acclaimed part in the return and repatriation of our fighting forces. ". N° de réf. du libraire 1372
