From the preface: "That which started out in 1950 as a simple hobby soon developed into a full-time occupation. Living in one of the older houses in Scarborough, I became curious about its age and early occupancy and delved into the Cumberland County records to trace its origin. This source was soon exhausted and I had to go further and further back into the early records of York County. So many other interesting facts in the early life of Scarborough began to come to light that it seemed a shame to pass over them without making an effort to record them for all to see. In compiling this material no source, however small, was intentionally overlooked. When the notes and records became too voluminous for an article it seemed best to put them into book form. It is my hope that the true facts herein contained along with a few stories and legends built around early residents will be interesting and informative.". N° de réf. du libraire 19243
