Titre : Tasco en el ano de mil novecientos ...
Éditeur : Manuel Casas, Mexico
Date d'édition : 1933
Only edition, limited to 200 copies. Quarto portfolio with ties. 55 silver gelatin photos, mounted on heavy card stock with backing. Wonderful, moody black and white studies of architecture in Tasco. This may have been his first collection of photos: all subsequent albums contained 50 photos and were printed in editions of 300. Cervantes (1868-1953) was a prominent engineer and restorer of ancient monuments in Mexico. Among his major publications, however, are collections of photographs of colonial Mexican cities. His photographic views of Mexican cities -- he did around 6 or 7 - were all done in the same format and included original photographic prints mounted individually on card stock and enclosed in a decorative portfolio with ties. Over the years they have been become desireable for their artistry. His eye for colonial architecture is very fine. He also published several volumes on Puebla tile-work, and enamel ware fro Uruapan -- all virtually self-published. Some insect damage to a few of the cardboard backings to the photos, in no case affecting the photos themselves; portfolio in very good condition. Very good. N° de réf. du libraire 5137
