Such whole-hearted and enthusiastic support and cooperation as yours has made the success of the Finnish Relief Fund possible. Yours faithfully, [signed] Herbert Hoover". 2 slight horizontal creases (midsection), slight rubbing and browning (chiefly to top edge and extremities). Hoover (1874-1964), 31st US President (1929-33); noted for his work with relief of distress in Europe during and following the First World War (particularly in Belgium); secretary of commerce (in Harding's administration); as president, primarily opposed to direct governmental assistance for the unemployed (which led to his one-term status); also involved in various European relief assistance programs following World War II.
