A propos de cet article

With an introduction by George Moore. Xviii, [2], 86 pages, boards, paper label, piece missing from top and bottom of back-strip, otherwise very good. From the introduction: "We have lost so many things during the last four years, that for an idea of number we turn to the stars; the endless mystery above us seems greater than the mystery over yonder, but both exceed the compass of our minds." From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "American screenwriter John L. Balderston (October 22, 1889 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - March 8, 1954 Los Angeles, California) specialised in writing plays and horror and fantasy scripts for movies. Prior to this, he was a war correspondent in Europe during WWI, the editor of 'Outlook' magazine, and a correspondent for the 'New York World'. His stage plays 'Dracula' and 'Frankenstein' (both 1931) were both adapted into classic horror movies. Among the famous books he adapted to screen are "The Prisoner of Zenda" (1937) and "Gaslight" (1944). He was also one of the numerous writers employed by David O. Selznick to work on the adaptation of "Gone With the Wind" (1939). Balderston was the recipient of two Academy Award nominations - for "The Lives of a Bengal Lancer" in 1935 and for "Gaslight".".
