7th Edition. Hardbound 8vo (8.75 inches tall) 315 pages. Description: This copy is Signed and dated (July 15, 1984), with a personalized inscription by the author. Boyington was a Medal of Honor winner, and was awarded a Navy Cross for his achievements while leading the Black Sheep squadron in the South Pacific. Pappy spent the last twenty months of the war in a Japanese prison camp and had a troubled career. He was brought into the public eye and fancy by Robert Conrad's role in the 1970s television series. This is a novel. The only printed date is the original 1960 copyright, this seventh printing (which the publisher has called ''edition'') will have been published about the time of the author's inscription. Note: while I believe calling this a seventh ''edition'' is somewhat misleading, the jacket art on this edition is nothing at all like the original. Note that Wilson Press does not identify themselves as publisher here except for printing ''Wilson'' on both book and jacket spine. The title page is just reprinted as it appeared in the original Bobbs-Merrill edition. Wilson Press also republished Boyington's war memoirs, Baa Baa Black Sheep. BINDING/CONDITION: red boards with black spine text; a Very Good book, with a Good dust jacket. The jacket is faded at the spine (this solid red jacket is prone to spine fading). ISBN: B000WIVQ9O.
