Livre Edition originale
Hardcover. Etat : Good. Etat de la jaquette : No d/j. Gell, Kathleen (illustrateur). 1st Edition. Very good to inside with no inscriptions and all illustrations unmarked. The front board is slightly cracked to the spine at the page after the endpapers which are beautifully illustrated as is the book. This crack does not effect the binding. There are full page colour illustrations in the colours of green, red, black and white and also small b/w illustrations. One page near the front is split from the spine for two inches up from the bottom. The second blank page has a crease from top to bottom. The boards are illustrated to the front in green, black and white and show an open door with the title in green above and the author and illustrator in brown below. Whilst the boards have little wear the back is slightly grubby with green and red marks, the front is just slightly grubby mainly to the bottom. Dehn was an interesting person being a children's writer (writing stories for the BBC Children's Hour), farmer, anarchist and poet from the 1930s to 2000s. A photograph could show off the full beauty of the illustrations as well as the boards defects and will be sent on request. Broadleaf Books is a second hand independent bookshop in Abergavenny, South Wales. Enquiries nd visits are very welcome. cb hle.
