Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. First Edition. Hardback. Dust Jacket. 8vo. pp 256. Original publisher's red cloth, lettered gilt on spine. The publisher's own retained copy with their stamp on the front pastedown and front endpaper. Very small number '67' at rear top inside corner of jacket, written by Gollancz on their file copies to note the year of publication. Novel of a travelling book salesman in Australia. John Berger notes on the rear jacket flap: It's a book which uncannily recreates the experience and period of the last war. It is as though the author has a private line to the dead and the forgotten and in exchange for their information has sworn to recreate the essence of their lives. Very good indeed in very good indeed dust jacket, with signs of slight shelf-wear. Decent copy.
