Illustrated paper covers have light bumping and creasing to edges and corners and light overall scuffing and soiling. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. NOT Ex-Library. NO remainder marks. Science-Fantasy Correspondent was a science fiction and fantasy "fanzine" edited by Willis Conover, Jr. (1921-1996). The first issue appeared in November-December of 1936, the second in January-February of 1937, and the third, in March-April of 1937. Soon after beginning his zine Conover began writing to H. P Lovecraft, which led to a regular correspondence. Lovecraft did an interview with Conover for his zine and supplied him with out-of-print poems and short stories he had written. He also put him in touch with other writers of weird fiction. After Lovecraft's death in 1937, Conover stopped publishing his own zine. In 1975, he published this one last issue of Science-Fantasy Correspondent, featuring letters from Lovecraft and Kenneth Sterling's memoir, "In Search of Lovecraft: Caverns Measuless to Man." This issue includes some reprinted articles from the first issue of the original series as well as new material. Cover art and interior drawings by Robert T. McCall, Ron Miller, and Edward Samuels. Contents include: The Wine Dark Sea by Robert Aickman; New Settings: Villiers de L'Isle-Adam by Brian W. Aldiss; First Patrol by Joseph Bryan III; To the House Subcommittee on Space Science Applications by Arthur C. Clarke; The Guise of Youth (verse) by Robert E. Howard; The Perpetual Honeymoon by David H. Keller, MD; Fantasy Film News Bits by Henry Kuttner; Last Autumn, Last Winter by H. P. Lovecraft, Hit and Run by Joseph Alan Ryan; In Search of Lovecraft: Caverns Measureless to Man by Kenneth Sterling; The Duke of Portland by Villiers de L'Isle-Adam; Psychology and Characterization by Jack Williamson.

Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. 1st Edition. This offering is a vintage copy of Lovecraft at Last written by H. P. Lovecraft and Willis Conover and has a Foreword by Harold Taylor. The book was published by Carrollton - Clark in 1975 and appears to be a First Edition . . . of sorts. On the title page is is stated that this is "Miskatonic University Classics: Volume I. In essence this book is a collection of letters that Lovecraft wrote to various people when he was fifteen years old. Therefore, it WAS written by Lovecraft . . . but it may well be the first time the letters have been made available to the public. It is NOT an ex-library copy and while the book is in very good + condition the dust jacket is only in good condition, at best. I've put a "plasticene" dust jacket protector on it to protect it from any more where as well as to hold it together. The book is 8 3/8" by 11" and has 272 pages with a Table of Contents, a Foreword, a Preface, an Editorial Method page, an Index, and a Bibliography. "Now the restraints of time and space - for Lovecraft, intolerable bonds - are broken. He lives and speaks in Lovecraft at Last. Through the eyes of a teenage boy we see Lovecraft whole. We experience awe, the thrill of discovery, and eventual shock. The two images of Lovecraft are finally reconciled." Thank you!.

Prints the correspondence between Lovecraft and a fifteen-year old Willis Conover. Conover, who at the time published the fanzine Science Fantasy Correspondent, went on to a long career in radio as host of the Voice of America Jazz Hour, which was especially popular throughout Europe. His New York Times obituary notes he "fought the cold war with cool music, capturing the hearts and liberating the spirits of millions of listeners trapped behind the Iron Curtain" and that "In the long struggle between the forces of Communism and democracy, Mr. Conover, who went on the air in 1955 and continued broadcasting until a few months ago, proved more effective than a fleet of B-29's." He also arranged regional jazz concerts, all races welcome, which "almost off-handedly brought about the desegregation of Washington's nightclubs.".
