Livre Edition originale
Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. First Edition. 1979. First edition. [vii], 115pp., black and white illustrations and maps. Newtyle is a village in the west of Angus, Scotland, and is situated abour eleven miles north of Dundee. It was the northern terminus for the first commercial railway in Scotland, the Dundee and Newtyle Railway which opened in 1831. The grid street plan of the central part of the village was laid out shortly after the railway opened and was intended to form the basis for a manufacturing centre which could take advantage of the communications link to Dundee. This historical account of Newtyle is also the story of people - of grannies and grandads - not of kings and queens. It is therefore a social and not a political history. The book is bound in paperback form with red card covers and titling on the spine and ront cover. The book is in very good condition with shelf wear on the boards and fading to the spine. The top corner of the front cover and both corners of the rear cover are curled with small creases. The contents are secure and clean with curling to the top corner of the first and last dozen or so pages. There is no inscription.
Etat : Good. Most items will be dispatched the same or the next working day. A good condition copy complete with tatty, age toned jacket that has tears and some loss. Boards knocked at edges and corners. Textblock slackened through age and usage. Contents are tanned and thumbed but overall clear.
