Pp. x+462, frontispiece portrait with tissue guard, 3 hand coloured maps (2 folding, 1 full page); school prize binding in full dark green morocco, the spine lettered and decorated in gilt compartments, boards with decorative blind borders and gilt edges, the gilt coat of arms of King's College, London at centre of upper board, the spine extremities and edges of boards lightly worn, with small snag to top fore-corner of lower board, joints tender, boards a trifle rubbed; a.e.g.; prize bookplate of King's College (dated 1867) on upper pastedown, the upper hinge starting, a little light foxing; Longman, Green, Longman, and Roberts, London, 1861. Second edition. *Sir Henry Havelock (1795-1857) served with distinction in the First Anglo-Burmese War (1824-1826), and is best remembered for his recapture of Cawnpore from rebels during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Hard back binding in publisher's original brick red cloth covers, gilt title and author lettering to the spine, brown paper end papers. 8vo. 8½'' x 5½''. Contains [xvi] 457 [32] printed pages of text with tissue-guarded monochrome portrait frontispiece. Ink ownership name to the front free end paper, spine tips and corners slightly ragged, spine not faded, without any foxing and in Very Good clean condition. Member of the P.B.F.A. INDIA (Bharat Ganarajya).
