International postal rates are calculated on a book weighing 1 Kilo, in cases where the book weighs more than 1 Kilo increased postal rates will be quoted, where the book weighs less then postage will be reduced accordingly. The capture and opening of Antwerp was a major goal for the Allies, and unfortunately it wasn't given the proper importance. Covering the preliminary attacks on Antwerp through its final capture, this book provides a slightly disjointed account of the battles to clear the Scheldt and various islands which control the waterways leading to Antwerp. Not much in the way of personal accounts, even though the author was one of the men involved in the actions related in the book, but there is a nice collection of maps and some good photos as well. This is an excellent history of a battle most Americans know little about even though its successful conclusion sealed the fate of Germany in 1945 and made supplying the masses of POWs, refugees, and concentration camp survivors with food and shelter possible. Ref I 2.
