Hardcover. Etat : Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. 1st Edition. "First Printing" stated. Part of the Wisconsin/Warner Bros. screenplay series, published for the Wisconsin Center for Film & Theater Research. Includes the script for the introductory jousting tournament sequence, which was never filmed. Illustrated by numerous B&W stills of a somewhat high-contrast nature which indicates these were not production stills, but rather frames from the film itself, probably captured from a Moviola or other editing device. The 1938 Warner Brother film, listing both directors Michael Curtiz and William Keighley, of course starred Errol Flynn, Olivia de Haviland, Basil Rathbone, Claude Rains, and Alan Hale as "Little John." (No, not "The Skipper" -- that was Alan Hale, Jr.) 235 pp. Reduced from $37.

Softcover. Etat : Fine. 1st Edition (softcover issue). [nice bright copy, as-new book, without even a hint of wear]. (Wisconsin/Warner Bros. Screenplay Series) Series Trade PB (B&W photographs) Typically excellent entry in this screenplay series, with an erudite introduction by noted scholar Rudy Behlmer, containing not only copious details about this production, but background on the Robin Hood legend and a brief discussion of other film treatments of same -- a topic about which, it should be noted, Mr. Behlmer was extremely knowledgeable. This, of course, is (as far as I'm concerned) the definitive Robin Hood movie, with Errol Flynn and a perfect supporting cast, one of the great movie scores (by Erich Wolfgang Korngold), and enough terrific moments, visual and verbal, for half-a-dozen movies. "Why -- you speak treason!" "Fluently." [The only problem with this series is its failure to give the names of the actual SCREENWRITERS the prominence they deserve -- their names are on neither the books' covers nor their title pages, but only on the first page of the scripts themselves. Tsk.] (xx).
