Limited edition of 500 numbered copies, of which this is number 15. Numbers 1-25 inclusive were specially produced and are signed by the contributors. Book is in Fine Condition. Volume I. is a limited edition of 500 copies this copy being number 234 and Volume II. is a limited edition of 200 copies this being copy number 30. Charles Joseph La Trobe (1801 - 1875) was Superintendent of the Port Phillip District and after its separation from NSW (1851) the first lieutenant-governor of the colony of Victoria. The sketches are from his extensive travel in Europe, North/Central America and the pacific, as well as the Australian colonies. The Notes detail the diaries kept by La Trobe over 15 years from when he left London on 24th march 1839, his subsequent appointments in Australia and his return to England on 6th may 1854.
