Fantastic book. About the book >.>.> THIS EDITION is not based upon the previous Arden edition by Ivor B. John, although it has of course been consulted. Amongst editions of the play, I am chiefly indebted to that by Professor J. Dover Wilson (Cambridge University Press, 1939, second edi- tion 1951). Although I have ventured to disagree from time to time with his findings, the debt which all modern students of Shake- speare owe to Dover Wilson is perhaps even greater than usual in the case of an editor of this play. I have also made especially con- tinuous use of the editions by C. H. Herford (Warwick Shake- speare), W. A. Wright (Cambridge Shakespeare), and J. C. Smith and Henry Newbolt (Clarendon Press), and of the studies of various aspects of the play by A. W. Pollard, A. P. Rossiter, Richmond Noble, and Paul Reyher, and of M. P. Tilley's magnificent A Dic- tionary of the Proverbs in England. I have been helped in various ways by the General Editor, Pro- fessor R. H. Bowers, Dr A. S. Cairncross, Dr N. A. Furne.
