In the original green cloth binding with gilt decoration. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards. Small splits in the cloth to the head of the spine with a crack to the front joint. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Some of the textblock remains unopened. Good. book.

Full morocco with 2 raised bands and decoration in blind and gilt, cover hsows minro wear and rubbing, fading on the spine, small crack at the crown of the spine. Beautiful turn-ins with decoration in red and gilt, vignette doublures on both pastedowns with gilt tooling (an almost Jansenist-style with the simple outside case). Chemical marbling to the free endpapers with some offsetting around the edges. Pages are lightly tanned and clean. A beautiful edition in a unique binding with many illustrations.
