Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and tanning.

Dark blue soft immitation leather binding with gold lettering and decoration to spine. No Dust jacket. In Very Good condition. Not Inscribed. Blue marble effect end papers. 576 Pages with a frontispiece. Part of 'The Library of Classics'. The author was born in Manchester in 1805 and was educated at the Grammar School there. He studied law but soon gave it up for writing. In 1834, then living in London he published Rockwood. This was his first success and for nearly 50 years he was writing novels. His most popular books are, The Tower of London, Old St paul's, Jack Sheppard, and Windsor Castle. He edited bentley's Miscellany and for eleven years had his own paper, 'Ainsworth's magazine. He died in 1882.
