(Paperback, 1984). (1983) 1984 paperback edition. 8vo (138 x 217mm). Ppxiv,158. B/w photographs, illustrations. Creases and woiling to cover, finger prints and tanning to pages, pencil notes to rear end-papers. Good reading copy. Parton looks at the five main methods of boat fishing for reservoir trout: over the front, or loch-style; dapping; fishing at anchor; trolling; and Northampton style. This last method uses very fast sinking lines and large lures while controlling the boat's drift with a large rudder-board. It was, and is, terrifically successful for deep-lying predatory fish, and caused great controversy at the time. .

He will be remembered for the way in which, with his tiny nymphs, he advanced the delicate art of fly fishing; but he was much more than a fisherman.
