One of the largest of the NZ Army unit histories published following WWII this one, dealing with the artillery component of the Second New Zealand Division, was also one of the last of a prolific series. The gunners supported other arms of the Division in all its operations and was a key component in operations from beginning to end of the Kiwi contribution to the conflict With its origins dating back to late September 1939, when the first troops were assigned as gunners, a small party of these accompanied the First Echelon to Ecypt where the Division was to assemble. Subsequently NZ artillerymen and their guns served in the UK, Greece, Crete, through all the North African campaigs, to Syria and finally to Italy.
