First edition thus, a second printing thereof, in the same year ( and actually this modern production is technically a Second Edition, with new illustrations and a re-installed new ending). Hardcover. Quarto. Fine in fine dustjacket. This title was Wagner's first book (first published in 1972, with illustrations by Karl Homes), based on a lay of the medieval writer, Marie de France. Wagner is best known for two modern classics of Australian children's literature, "The Bunyip of Berkeley's Creek" and "John Brown, Rose and the Midnight Cat", both illustrated by Ron Brooks. This werewolf story has sumptuous colour illustrations by Roennfeldt (rather more lush and interesting than the one provided for the 1972 first edition, and the new ending is more nuanced and intriguing than the earlier one.
