With only very minor rubbing to the extremities. In a price-clipped dust jacket with areas of yellowing. Errata tucked in. From the dust jacket- "Joseph Banks is generally known as a wealthy young naturalist who sailed with Captain Cook on his first voyage round the world. Banks's earlier voyage to Newfoundland and Labrador in the Niger in 1766 is less familiar. This volume contains his diary of that voyage, his scientific manuscripts and a detailed account of his collections, on which, working alone as a field biologist, he gained the essential experience which enabled him to make the voyage of the Endeavor such an outstanding success in the field of botanical and zoological exploration.
