Collated, complete.First published in 1860, in this work John Curtis - a British entomologist, illustrator, engraver and writer - examines the problems presented by farm pests, and the losses to agricultural crops that they cause.This work was the product of many years of research, and initially appeared as articles periodically in 'The Gardner's Chronicle' in the 1840s and 1850s.Curtis is thought to be the first writer to bring to public attention the economic impact of pests. Rebacked, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with original back strip laid down and boards restored. Retaining the original endpapers, with hinges reinforced. Externally, very smart. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting to title page. Pages otherwise lightly age toned due to paper type, but generally clean and bright. Very Good. book.

Rubbed, spine professionaly rebound (original spine is mounted), the restauration is nearly not visible at the cover. First leaves (first title, frontispiece, tissue guard and title-page) lightly foxed. Otherwise good and clean without entries. Binding is tight and strong.
