Minor edge and corner wear; no dj; lightly scuffed; corners are gently bumped and rubbed; some shelf wear; ex-library with the usual library markings; overall a nice used 2 VOLUME SET! Red cloth with gilt on black lettering on the spine. 842 historical pages nicely enhanced by black and white illustrations! "This book does not intend to give more than a summary account of the principal events and names that occur in the History and Geography of Japan. Consequently, the alphabetical order has been adopted, an arrangement that will undoubtedly contribute to the usefulness of the book. It contains but little discussion of dates and facts, as it is not meant to be a critical history. Therefore the official chronicle which assigns the year 660 B.C. as the date on which Jimmu-tenno, the first Emperor of Japan, ascended the throne, has been adopted." ----- from the Preface. (2 VOLUME SET). Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
