Hardcover. Etat : Fine. No Jacket. 1955. Second American Edition, 250pp. Fine in G+, lightly worn slipcase. Limited to 1000 copies, this number 886. In 1922, after his adventures with the Arabs in their revolt against the Turks, chronicled in his book, SEVEN PILLARS OF WISDOM, Lawrence had enlisted in the R.A.F. under the name John Hume Ross. He was dismissed in 1923, when his true identity was discovered, but he was allowed to re-enter two and a half years later, using the name Shaw, under which name he had served in the Tank Corps during the interim. Many people believe that Lawrence's life was one of the strangest and most adventurous in modern times.
