Pamphlet. iv, 25p., illustrated with a fullpage line map and numerous b&w portrait and activity photographs. Softbound in 9x6 inch staple-fastened plain printed wraps, paperstock alkaline, pix reasonably well-reproduced, condition very good: pace a little edgewear the item is sound and clean. Smithsonian Institution War Background studies number nine. (`Publication 3726). Wartime shortcuts involve the portrait photos, mostly full-figure but many face-exclusive: from p.1, this cliche: "All the plates show natives of Netherlands New Guinea. Types occur, however, throughout the island". From other materials we have seen that tribal variations insure that no, they don't all look alike.
