Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. Twenty years ago, when I first arrived on the plains, I kept my eyes open. I looked for anything in the landscape that seemed to hint at some elaborate meaning behind appearances. There is no book in Australian literature like The Plains. In the two decades since its first publication, this haunting novel has earned its status as a classic. A nameless young man arrives on the plains and begins to document the strange and rich culture of the plains families. As his story unfolds, the novel becomes, in the words of Murray Bail, a mirage of landscape, memory, love and literature itself. A young man arrives on the plains to document the strange, rich culture of the landowning families. This quest becomes his life. Teju Cole calls Murnane 'a genius on the level of Beckett.' Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Softcover. Etat : New. 1a.ed. en esta colección. 165x120 mm. Colección Paisajes narrados, 57. 147 p., Rústica con solapas. Sprache: Spanisch, NUEVO / NEU / NEW. First edition. Hardcover. Fine in fine dustjackets. Murnane's third work, and decidely scarce in collectible condition. Apparently the author was displeased with the first issue dustjacket (primarily a blue background, white-lettered version, created by Josephine Brick) and a second issue was supplied (primarily grey and white, with dark brown lettering, created by Marius Foley). BOTH versions are present here, the second issue uppermost. A memorable work by a remarkable writer, this copy unusual in both condition and completeness.
