Three Letters From The Andes, Patrick Leigh Fermor, John Murray, 1991, First Edition First Impression Often lauded as the greatest travel writer of the twentieth century, Three Letters From The Andes was printed twenty years after six friends set out to do some climbing in Peru. The book is pretty much the content of three lengthy letters to his wife at home in Greece and form a travelogue of the experience. In fine condition, the binding is tight and straight, the boards clean and bright and the lettering on the spine bright. The pages and endpapers are clean without marks, tears, inscriptions or foxing. The beautifully price clipped John Craxton illustrated dust jacket is in near fine condition with a faint pen mark to the front cover and slight nibbling to the top edge of the back cover. Hardcover. Etat : Very Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Very Fine. Price Clipped. John Craxton (illustrateur). First Edition/First Printing. Owners name to front pastedown, a very clean bright copy, signed 'Patrick Leigh Fermor' to the title page. "This was a private account of an Andean journey organised and led by Robin Fedden in 1971. As I had no particular task during the journey, except looking after the Primas stove, I wrote down a rough and ready description of our doings in the form of three long letters to my wife Joan in Greece, the last of which was never posted as I finished it in the plane just before we landed in England. I've cut out one or two irrelevant passages, topped and tailed it a bit, but not too much, and generally tidied it up to make it more presentable as a sort of memento of the journey. P.L.F. Messenia, Greece 1991". Signed Without Inscription. Book.
