Paperback. Etat : Very Good. Now at secondary school, Phillip is trying to maintain a low profile and hide his secret passion for Helena Rolls from the mirth of his sisters. With the growth of his absorbing interest in natural history, he finds sanctuary, both from them and from the harshness of his father, on the heath. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Etat : Very Good. Revised & Corrected Edition. YOUNG PHILIP MADDISON. Henry Williamson. Panther Books, London 1962 Revised Edition. 352pp Paperback. Henry William Williamson (1 December 1895 - 13 August 1977) was an English naturalist, farmer and prolific author known for his natural and social history novels. He won the Hawthornden Prize for literature in 1928 with his bestselling book Tarka the Otter. In 1950 Henry Williamson began to write his great odyssey, charting a journey through the life of his parents and himself, from birth almost to death, encompassing the first half of the twentieth century, undertaken in fifteen volumes called collectively ?A Chronicle of Ancient Sunlight?. Between 1951 and 1969 a volume appeared nearly every year. He was also to revise earlier volumes as they appeared in paperback. The volumes dealing with the First World War are considered by many to contain the finest descriptions ever of trench warfare, and, as a record of social history from just before the turn of the century to the 1950s, they have a high place in English literature. This is the third book in the ?Chronicle of Ancient Sunlight series and this edition has been revised by the author. This vintage paperback edition has some typical age tining to the page edges but this does not affect the text. There are reading creases to the spine but the stock is square, tight and bright. Ref P4.

Soft cover. Etat : Poor. 2nd Edition. The second edition (and first paperback issue) of Williamson's celebrated sequence of novels, with a slightly revised text. 8vo. Readership creases to the spines. Some wear, creasing and marking to the wrappers. Edges spotted, some spine ends a little chipped. Some toning to the paperstock. The wrappers of five volumes have been covered in decorated paper by a former owner, this has been subsequently removed but traces remain, especially to two volumes ('The Golden Virgin' and 'A Test to Destruction'). An about acceptable reading set. Due to poor sales, Panther declined to publish the final two volumes ('Lucifer Before Sunrise' and 'The Gale of the World') so this is the complete set, if limited to thirteen rather than the intended fifteen volumes.
