F. homes for the aged, the House of the Good Shepherd, Intermountain Union College, Mount St. Charles College, St. Vincent Academy, the State Vocational School for Girls, the Helena High School and the Bryant, Central, Emerson, Hawthorne and Jefferson schools, the Helena Cathedral, St. Peter's Episcopal, St. Paul's Methodist, the First Baptist, Christian, Congregational, Lutheran and Presbyterian churches, the Unitarian church, the Emanu-El Synagogue, the Broadwater Hotel and Natatorium, the State Fair grounds, Benton Avenue and Catholic cemeteries, and the residential avenues of the west and east sides.In 1930 the Sanborn Map Company of New York surveyed Helena for the fire-insurance trade, drawing the city at fifty feet to the inch and the outlying sheets - the Broadwater and the State Fair grounds, and the Montana Power Company's Hauser and Canyon Ferry plants on the Missouri River - at one hundred feet to the inch. Every building is shown to scale and color-coded for construction (yellow for frame, pink for brick, blue for stone), with heights, uses, windows, party walls, hydrants, water mains and fire stations all marked.
