You've heard it said, "Practice what you preach," but let us consider the reverse of this statement. Most of us preach what is practiced. Simply stated, we tell others about our experiences—good, bad, and indifferent. The challenge lies in advising others about situations we have not experienced. How do we preach what we have never practiced? Furthermore, how does one thoroughly execute based on assumptions or receive proper counsel from one who has not lived the life, put in the work, or successfully navigated the course?
This book was written as a way to preach what I've practiced, to share my experiences that led me to achieve the things God placed in my heart. It's a book containing timeless values for life—personal, ministry, and business. It contains over forty insights into successes I've experienced, as well as the failures God helped me overcome.
While experience is a good teacher, it is not always necessary to go through what others have gone through, especially if the actions of others contributed to their detriment or worse, harmed others. Discovering what not to do because of what others endured can be as enlightening as first-hand experience, but a lot less damaging and frustrating.
Know that what God has placed in your heart is valuable and may very well impact this world in a powerful way. Remember, though, that there is a way of doing that brings God glory and glorifies the doer. The Bible speaks of this in Proverbs 16:18, "Pride goes before destruction and a haughty [self-important] spirit before a fall." With the help of this book, I hope that you discover how to successfully navigate your course and decide to glorify God as you practice what He puts inside your heart.
