Synopsis

A dazzling visual and tactile experience, featuring new, breathtaking artwork from Tolkien artist John Howe.

Tolkien’s world is brought to life in this stunning and sophisticated celebration of The Hobbit. Featuring many new and innovative paper-engineering techniques, it is a book that will appeal to adult enthusiasts as well as children, and will even attract a new audience

The five spreads reconstruct the main events in the story:
• the party at Bag End
• Gollum’s underground cavern
• the grotesque spiders in Mirkwood
• Smaug and his treasure
• and the Battle of Five Armies.
Each spread also features pull-out scrolls with relevant quotes from the book. These enhance the impact of each three-dimensional image without intruding on the action.
