Robyn Sheffield, born and educated in Surrey, lives in Devon with her husband, formerly a research scientist and now a professional watercolourist. They have an adult son and daughter. She trained as a diagnostic radiographer and then as a teacher and has worked in London, the Home Counties and the West of England. She also spent six years helping in the management of a family business. Since 1986 she has concentrated on writing plays and fiction. The Parting is her first crime novel.
