"Dr. Mel" is Connecticut's premier meteorologist, forecasting the weather on "Good Morning, Connecticut" on WTHN-TV New Haven/Hartford. He writes a daily column and prepares the weather pages for several Connecticut newspapers. He received his Ph.D. in Meteorology from the University of New York, started Connecticut's first Bachelor of Science program in Meteorology at Western Connecticut State University, and created and directed the school's Weather Center.
