Chalmers W Sherwin had a doctorate degree in Physics from the University of Chicago. He taught Physics at the University of Illinois for 14 years. A very distinguishing part of his career was his ability to convert seemingly complex and sophisticated Physical problems into simpler ones. The present book on Introduction to Quantum Mechanics is the reflection of his unique problem simplifying ability, using which he has made it easy for students of physics to understand the topics in Physical Sciences. In America, he also held many other posts of science administrators.

This book defines Quantum Mechanics which has grown in applications that extend to many areas in engineering and applied science. Since the large part of the complexity of Quantum Theory is due simply to geometry, the concentration in the book is on one-dimensional systems, that present the clear description of some key ideas and revolutionary concepts. The book is a first course where it is much more important to apply exact theory to simple cases than to apply approximate theory to complex cases. Most of the book is concerned with particles without intrinsic spin .
