Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. Eighth Impression printed 1971. Farmer Giles of Ham by J.R.R. Tolkien is a comic medieval fable written in 1937 and published in 1949. The story follows Farmer Giles, a seemingly ordinary man who unexpectedly becomes a hero after confronting a giant and later a wily dragon named Chrysophylax. Unlike Tolkien's more famous works, this tale is light-hearted and anachronistic, set in a fictional version of Dark Ages Britain. It humorously plays with traditional dragon-slaying narratives, featuring medieval knights, mythical creatures, and even primitive firearms. The story also reflects Tolkien's philological expertise, incorporating Latin-based jokes and references to historical literature. N° de réf. du vendeur 41184
