Synopsis

J. P. Beaumont, one of the most enduring and
endearing characters in fiction, is back
in a riveting story about a shocking,
long-buried case of murder ...

After more than twenty years of distinguished service with the Seattle Police Department, J. P. Beaumont is now working for the Washington State Attorney's Special Homicide Investigation Team. Beau is handpicked to lead the investigation into a fifty-year-old murder in which an eyewitness has just come forward.

While undergoing hypnotherapy, a nun unexpectedly recalls the grisly details of a cold-blooded killing she witnessed when she was five years old. Fear has kept these memories repressed for half a century, but now they've risen to the surface.

But Beau's focus is swayed when his former partner, Ron Peters -- caught in a bitter custody battle -- becomes the prime suspect after his ex-wife is gunned down. Faced with personal demons and shocking surprises, Beau will need all of his instincts to solve not only a fifty-year-old crime but to prove the innocence of his friend as well.
