Built around a collection of primary source readings, the author integrates introductions to each problem and discussion, aiming to help students understand and think about the readings. This third edition includes works by 20th-century thinkers, such as Richard Rorty, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Simone deBeauvoir, and Joyce Tribilcot; coverage of Eastern philosopy, notably the philosophy of Radhakrishnan; and readings by feminist philosophers, such as Carol Gilligan and Annette Baier. The text provides information on each philosopher's biographical background.
