Synopsis
As computers continue to become more common in the health care industry, computer literacy has become an integral part of the nursing profession. Selected "Book of the Year" by the American Journal of Nursing in its first edition, this book continues to provide an introduction to computer technology for nurses. The first half of the book covers microcomputer hardware, on-line networks, and microcomputer software and database coding schemes. The second half of the book reviews nursing administration, practice, research, educcation and has been expanded to include home health and intensive care applications. Each chapter begins with a set of objectives and concludes with a summary section of related issues, suggestions for hands-on experiences, study questions, references and a bibliography.
